How we compile this information

Last updated 2026-10-25

Every city page is built from a short list of local facts, and every fact names its source next to it. If we can't source something, it doesn't go on the page.

Where the facts come from

WhatSource
How many people search for heating help, and in which monthsGoogle Ads search volume data, accessed through DataForSEO, an independent data provider. This is search demand, not a count of calls.
How many local companies there are, and their ratingsGoogle Maps listings, accessed through DataForSEO
Housing age and populationStatistics Canada census (Canadian cities) or the U.S. Census Bureau (U.S. cities), often through the city's own publications
Permits and local rulesThe city's or municipality's own website. Always confirm with them before you start work.
Typical pricesPublished price guides and company price lists, each one named. When a figure comes from a single company, we say so. A price on our pages is a range, never a quote.
Weather and storm damageInsurers, government weather agencies and news reports, each one named

Google and Statistics Canada don't endorse this site. We name them only as the source of a fact.
