Privacy policy

The short version: we collect what we need to connect you with one local company, we share it only with that company and the services that run our line, and we don't sell it or use it for advertising.

Who is responsible

Local Heating Line is operated by 1113 Technologies Inc., Calgary, Alberta ("we"). We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act. Our privacy contact is reachable at help@localheatingline.com.

What we collect when you call

• Your phone number (from caller ID).
• What you tell us: your first name, your neighbourhood or nearest intersection, the problem, how soon you need help, and the best time to call back.
• A recording and a written transcript of the call. The line tells you this at the start of every call.

We don't ask for your street address or payment details on the call.

What we collect when you visit the website

We don't use cookies or advertising trackers. Our web host, Cloudflare, processes basic technical data (like your IP address and browser type) to deliver the site and block attacks. We may look at visit counts that don't identify you.

Why we use it

• To pass your request to one local company so they can call you back.
• To check the line is working and getting details right.
• To count how many calls each page brings in, which is how we keep our records and bill companies.
• To learn from calls. With names and phone numbers removed, we keep what each call was about (the kind of job, the neighbourhood, the time of year, any prices mentioned). We use it to improve the line and our pages, and to publish local statistics, such as the most common repairs in a city.

We don't sell your information, send it to several companies, or use it to market other products to you.

Who sees it

• The company we refer you to receives your first name, callback number, area and a summary of the job. Once they have it, their own privacy practices apply.
• Outcome reports. The company may tell us whether it reached you, what it quoted and whether the job went ahead, so we can check our referrals are good ones.
• The services that run our line: our call and AI-assistant provider (Retell AI) and the AI model it uses, our phone carrier, our web host (Cloudflare) and our email provider. They process information only to provide their service to us.

Some of these providers are in the United States, so your information may be stored or processed there and be subject to U.S. law.

How long we keep it

• Call recordings and full transcripts: deleted after 30 days.
• Your name and phone number, with the call summary they belong to: kept for up to 2 years for our records, then deleted.
• Call information with names and phone numbers removed: kept, since it no longer includes your name or number.

Your choices

• Consent. By staying on the line after the recording notice, you agree to the recording and to us passing your request on. If you'd rather not be recorded, hang up and email us instead.
• Access, correction and deletion. Email help@localheatingline.com from any address and include the phone number you called from. We'll reply within 30 days.
• Complaints. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
